  1. From the Applications menu, select Settings and then select Accounts.
  2. Choose  + Add Account
  3. Select Exchange account. This option may be named “Exchange ActiveSync” or “Corporate” on some versions of Android.
  4. Enter your full e-mail address
    1. (For Faculty & Staff ONLY) Enter JHED-ID@jhu.edu
    2. (For Students ONLY) Enter JHED-ID@jh.edu (note the that this should be jh.edu not jhu.edu)
  5. Enter your JHED-ID password, and then select NEXT>
  6. The phone should automatically detect server settings and configure everything needed to access your mailbox.  If it does, proceed to step 9.
  7. If the server settings are not automatically detected, continue with the following steps to manually configure your settings:
    1. For Faculty & Staff ONLY
      1. Domain\Username   Enter “WIN\” followed by your JHED-ID (Example: WIN\BJones1)
      2. If Domain and Username are separate text boxes in your version of Android, enter WIN in the Domain box and your JHED-ID in the Username box.
      3. Password   Use your JHED-ID password if this field is not already populated.
      4. Exchange Server   Enter mobile.johnshopkins.edu
    2. For Students ONLY
      1. Domain\Username   Type your full e-mail address in this box JHED-ID@jh.edu (note the that this should be jh.edu not jhu.edu)
      2. If Domain and Username are separate text boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty and type your full e-mail address in the Username box.
        Note: On some versions of Android, you need to use the domain\username format. For example, jh.edu\JHED_ID@jh.edu (this should rarely be necessary).
      3. Password   Use your JHED-ID password if this field is not already populated.
      4. Exchange Server   Enter outlook.office365.com
  8. Tap NEXT>
  9. As soon as your phone verifies the server settings, the Account Options screen displays. The options available depend on the version of Android on your device. The options may include the following:
    1. IMPORTANT – Be sure to uncheck “Sync Text messages” if it is checked. Otherwise, all of your text messages will be sent to your JHU mailbox
    2. Email checking frequency   The default value is Automatic (push).
    3. Amount to synchronize   This is the amount of mail you want to keep on your mobile phone.
    4. Sync contacts from this account   If you select this option, your contacts will be synchronized between your phone and your account.
  10. Tap NEXT> and then type a name for this account and the name you want displayed when you send e-mail to others.
  11. Tap DONE to complete the e-mail setup and start using your account.
